Author(s) : Stéphane Coté – 2006 — in French
Is there still something like adventure? Are there still undicovered lands to explore? As astonishing as it may sound, the Estrop mountain range in the high valley of Bléone still locks up such treasures (North of Digne – the Alpes de Haute Provence). This work tells the reader in detail about the integral descent of an unknown, not equipped canyon in the Alps du Sud : Male Vesse. It is situated in the commune of Prads-Haute-Bléone in the North of Digne, in the Estrop mountain range. This descent cumulates superlatives. It beats records due to the height difference between start and arrival (1050m), the difficulty of the access (5 to 7H), the length of the descent (2 days) and the beauty of the framework (Source of the Bléone). This canyon is one of the great European descents, equal to Gorgopotamos (Greece), Gorg Blau, Sa Fosca (Balearic Islands), Gole del Sofia (North of Italy), Torrente Avello (Central Italy) or Gorgas Negras (Spain).
The reader is invited to discover the other descents of this region as well, in particular the integral descent of Bussing. The authors share the following with us: Bussing upstream, Chabrières, Les eaux grosses, Montagne de Boules, Vallon des Amoures..etc. In total, 12 descents, each with their specific ipoints of interest and environment. There are descents for experts as well for beginners.
