Description
Canyons Cantalous, by Philippe VIETTE-COSTE
Cantal is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, with its prefecture in Aurillac.
This guidebook is a partial re-edition of the “Cantal” part of the “Canyons Arvernes” topoguide published in 2012. This guidebook therefore only presents the canyons of this area, in a corrected and revised edition. There are still no less than 50 routes listed with some unpublished, of which 33 have a detailed description. 22 maps allow you to find your way around for approaches / exits, while 6 overview maps allow you to position the canyons between them.
The book, well laid out, is in full color, accompanied by numerous photos and has for each sheet a precise and very readable profile. There is also a synthetic but complete description, addressing hydrology, geology, engagement, access, approach, descent, return and history for each canyon.
A summary table with the main technical characteristics (times, lengths, ropes needed, number of obstacles, rating, etc.) provides an overview.
This book was published in June 2018.
