It’s been 22 years since the last topoguide of the Pyrénées Atlantiques has been published. The least you can say of this 140 pages thick book is that it’s been expected for a long time!

The book describes 34 canyons, of which:

– 12 canyons in the basque country,

– 7 canyons in the Aspe valley,

– 11 canyons in the Ossau valley,

– 4 canyons in the Valentin valley.

Obviously the book contains chapters on geology, but also on health (medical/prevention), history, environment,… The topo contains maps with the location of the canyons and has numerous pictures. In short, it is the book you need to discover the canyons of the west side of the Pyrénées – the region where canyoning was initially started.
